Day 65 - Sihanoukville accidental Sunday

Stuck in Sihanoukville, with no boat again till the afternoon. No one told me, Laure or Elodie though, so we were up early. Instead, we went for breakfast at 'Smile' down the beach road. Elodie told lovely stories about where she learnt to dive - a family boat cruise in Egypt. The water there is completely clear and it makes things like the 'adventure dives' (night dives, drift dives) needed for Advanced Diver sound much more appealing. She swam regularly with dolphins there.

Their wall is covered in smileys. (Needs a Watchman one though). Travellers from all over the world have signed it, so I produced a pen and duly did so. The other two then borrowed my pen. Coffee.

Then we went to the beach and walked along to Occeuhetal Beach, which is quieter than Serendipity and much more beautiful. I bought a couple of postcards.

Walked back to meet the others for their breakfast at The Big Easy. Nice ambience despite being a football pub. Then we went shopping in Psar Leu the local Khmer market. I had a manicure.

We had a pizza and I made a last minute decision to try to send my postcards. Managed it via a handicraft shop across the road and also Dad's quick response with the postcodes on text!

Finally made the boat where I dozed most of the way back on deck. Very much in mind of The Bourne Legacy - pleasantly lost! All in all a lovely lazy Sunday. I tended my feet, which needed my fin blisters sticking up to guard against the ever present possibility of infection in these waters.

The M'Pay pier

Ended the day with a sunset swim and snorkel on Long Beach. I saw a Sea Pen - long, feathery verticals tentacle type creature that the seahorses like to hold onto. Attached to the bottom, about 1 ft long.

Also we were all tormented by a Cambodian cleg - horsefly. Laure had bought a mat in the market for our bungalow in an attempt to keep our feet dry.

Sometimes the cicadas stop all at once and then resume simultaneously. How do they do that?
