Day 4 - day one teaching

I am an international teaching assistant! Except here, assistant means you take the class.  With a translator - Huung - who was great, and two teenagers who like One Direction,  Nygen and Dsong.

Lessons day one went very well, the children are very sweet but the translator is essential! At first, it was chaotic, with all the parents and the head teacher watching.  Settled down though, they were younger and also more advanced than I was lead to believe, so abandoned my plan and did colours with the first class and showed them the London flash cards and 'did' the queen, in the second. That about exhausts my ideas though.

I've got to do more communication words with them I think but that involves getting them to stand up and say things! Oh dear, I can't  believe I have to do it all again tomorrow.  Rode the bus, in rush hour, this morning and crossing the roads is unbelievable, though the vietnamese are very willing to help.

Also killed my first cockroach, with an encyclopaedia of children's games (excellent weapon). Heh.

Thunder starting up now. Going up to kip a bit more.

  1. Amazing! Haha! Who'd have thought it?! Isn't life's ability to continually surprise us amazing?
Bravo with the cockroach. Remember, always kill them on non-carpeted floors (to prevent leaving potential eggs, if pregnant, in the carpet and hatching later!) and to do it quick before they try to make friends with you!
    Good luck for day 2!
And keep up with the blog... it's fascinating!
