Day 10 - at the night market
Following the trip to the orphanage it was decided a spot of retail therapy was needed, so we headed off to the night market. There is conflicting info as to whether this is actually a weekend occurrence or that it refers to the fact that stalls often stay open very late in the Old Quarter most nights. (City curfew is 11pm). Either way we decided to take advantage. First we stopped off for a drink at the Avalon Sky Bar however. This may have been because we met up with Jack. Anyway, a margarita later and we were on our way around the lit up shops and stalls. The prices in the Old Quarter are three times what you might pay elsewhere! So you have to bargain and they are canny to it too, so it's a bit tricky. Jack was now full throttle for more alcohol so our leisurely cruise tuned into a harried rush! I did not buy anything but spotted a few ideas, so I was happy. We went to an upstairs, red lit, bar on Ma May street. Sat on cushions on the floor. I had an interesting couple of drinks with a disgusting name and watched Roland Garros while they all talked about sex. At 9pm I called it quits, however I was not done yet! Pleasantly merry I got myself a Xe-Om, a motorbike taxi, and whizzed through the night lit streets. My driver was chatty and friendly. It was a good moment, being a nice cool evening too. Had to be done. Got some video!
