Day 50 and 51 - 4th weekend in Cambodia

Central market on Saturday was actually quite peaceful. I bought a peeler that the chef had us use on the cooking course, which I'm sure you can't get in England because of health and safety. I had a lovely hour afterwards reading The Cambodian Daily in the Blue Pumpkin on Riverside. Saturday evening the light bulb in my room blew. They've not heard of desk lamps so I'm in darkness for now!

I don't know what these are! The ones in the next tub appear to be lobster with very spindly blue legs or feelers.

Russian market on Sunday was more chaotic. I had my nails done for $2. Expertly, as you can see!

On the way over to Riverside we got caught in two political rallies. The CPP, which made us wait for an hour while they tooted their horns and played their music and the CNRP, which was joyful and most of the noise was generated by its supporters and who let our tuk-tuk join the throng going in that direction.  The newspaper to read on these elections is The Cambodian Daily. It has a website.

Ice cream was a huge relief by then. Back to the flat and I negotiated 10 mins of wireless from the Library cafe in order to Skype Mum and Dad

If I have the energy I will watch one of the pirate DVDs I bought in the Russian Market this afternoon!

There are delays getting to the island apparently due to heavy rain and its been a very cool weekend here, with poor weather anticipated for the week; while Southern England is still in the grip of heatwave. Flights to Sydney from Phnom Penh are $350!

Update: watched Olympus Has Fallen with everyone, popular choice. It took 15 mins to make the DVD player work first so felt I'd earned it.
